Facebook Page Vote! Halloween Candy Faves
This week, I asked our friends on the Cruelty-Free Faves Facebook page to vote for Halloween favorites. There were plenty of treats to choose from:
- Smarties
- Twizzlers
- Red Vines
- Sweet Tarts (my personal fave as a kid!)
- Yummy Earth Organic Lollipops (my vote!)
- Jolly Ranchers
- Sour Patch Kids
- Mary Janes
- Sjaak’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites
- VeganSweets Candy Corn
- Dots
- Swedish Fish
- Chick o Sticks
I double-checked to make sure that all the above are, in fact, vegan — free of any animal products including gelatin. The gelatin in Twizzlers and Red Vines is plant-derived. For even more options, the VegNews and PETAkids web sites have good lists of Halloween Candy to use as a reference.
And the winners are …
We had a tie for first place! 97 people particpated in this week’s vote. Jolly Ranchers and Sweet Tarts each received 24 votes. Coming in next was Swedish Fish, with 18 votes.
Alternatives for Some Old Favorite Chocolate Bars
We had a few votes for chocolate bars like Mounds and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Unfortunately, these aren’t vegan. But the good news is that there are many delicious vegan versions out there. Checkout the chocolate bars by Go Max Go Foods, which are available in many stores, including Whole Foods.
Thanks for all those who voted, and Happy Halloween!
