Facebook Vote! Holiday Gift Ideas

Once again, ’tis the season. As always, I like to consider creative gift-giving ideas that encompass the spirit of the season without succumbing to consumer frenzy. So, for this month’s CFF Facebook Vote, I asked you to suggest and vote for your favorites. Here are the holiday gift-giving ideas that everyone was talking about: Adopt/Sponsor an Animal at a Sanctuary Adopt a Marine Mammal from Oceana Donation to an Animal Rescue, Shelter, or Local Non-Profit Vegan Fashion and Accessories Books About Animals or Wildlife Homemade Vegan Baked Goods Vegan Wines and Liquors Vegan Bath & Body Products Gift Certificate for a Cruelty-Free Spa Treatment Subscription to VegNews magazine Trip to Volunteer at a Sanctuary And the winners are… All great ideas for compassionate gift-giving! The top three picks from last week’s vote: adopt/sponsor an animal at a sanctuary; donation to a rescue, shelter, or local non-profit; and a trip to volunteer at a sanctuary. Thanks to all who participated in this month’s CFF Facebook Vote. I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. Truly, the greatest gift is the time we share with our loved ones.   Have you “liked” us on Facebook yet? Don’t miss out on all the fun! The CFF Facebook page gives you a chance to share your favorites and hear from others. And once a month, we have a CFF Vote. The page has become a wonderful online community that’s growing by the day. Hope to see you there!...

Facebook Page Vote! Halloween Candy Faves

This week, I asked our friends on the Cruelty-Free Faves Facebook page to vote for Halloween favorites. There were plenty of treats to choose from: Smarties Twizzlers Red Vines Sweet Tarts (my personal fave as a kid!) Yummy Earth Organic Lollipops (my vote!) Jolly Ranchers Sour Patch Kids Mary Janes Sjaak’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites VeganSweets Candy Corn Dots Swedish Fish Chick o Sticks I double-checked to make sure that all the above are, in fact, vegan — free of any animal products including gelatin. The gelatin in Twizzlers and Red Vines is plant-derived. For even more options, the VegNews and PETAkids web sites have good lists of Halloween Candy to use as a reference. And the winners are … We had a tie for first place! 97 people particpated in this week’s vote. Jolly Ranchers  and Sweet Tarts each received 24 votes. Coming in next was Swedish Fish, with 18 votes. Alternatives for Some Old Favorite Chocolate Bars We had a few votes for chocolate bars like Mounds and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Unfortunately, these aren’t vegan. But the good news is that there are many delicious vegan versions out there. Checkout the chocolate bars by Go Max Go Foods, which are available in many stores, including Whole Foods. Thanks for all those who voted, and Happy Halloween! Have you “liked” the Cruelty-Free Faves Facebook page yet? In addition to the monthly Facebook Vote fun, it’s  a great way to learn about other people’s favorites, as well as a place to share your own. I hope you’ll take a minute to join our blossoming online...

Facebook Friends Vote! Fave Energy Foods

In just a month’s time, the Cruelty-Free Faves Facebook page is 1250+ strong! Awesome!  It’s wonderful to see an online community blossoming, and so quickly. My hope is that the page will facilitate  sharing of cruelty-free favorites among everyone. At the start of this week, a friend who’s a runner asked me for “energy food” recommendations. Since I’m not a runner, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to put the question to our Facebook friends. Responses: Bananas (one suggestion was to have bananas with soy milk) Clif Bar Carrots Lara Bar Clif Shot Bloks Vega Super Green Algae Dates/Figs Peanut Butter + Banana + Whole Grain Bread Nature Valley Granola Bars (contains honey) Thanks so much to all who responded to the question. Getting input from you is so much fun! And special thanks to Mel Knoll from Down Under: I hope these suggestions contribute to many happy, energy-charged miles! If you haven’t “liked” our Facebook page yet, I hope you will — this way, you can participate in Cruelty-Free Faves questions to come 🙂  ...
